Eagle River

Day Three: Eagle River Nature Walk

Though not a sunny and clear day, it was a beautiful day and peaceful walk around the Eagle River Nature Center.

My personal highlight was seeing so many salmon in one place and watching them spawn.

We had a private tour with a ranger, which was fun and informative.

We learned thing like how to tell the difference between Cows Parsnip and Devils Claw,

about wild cranberries and the moose that eat them, various flowers, wild rose hips (100% vitamin C) and tree burrows.

Did you know that of the 4,000 salmon eggs layed by one spawning salmon, only 4 will survive to maturity and make it back to the breeding grounds to spawn again... that's .01%!

Tree Dwelling:

Yep, that was fun!
