Berry Picking

We went berry picking at Webb Ranch for mother's group this week.

Ella ate a lot of berries and a lot of dirt.

Morning fruit picking during nap time is not the easiest ~ which means I tried to pick berries while holding sleeping Ella.
Even though we didn't bring home a lot of fruit, we had a delicious time!

Father's Day

Ella was adorable on her first Father's Day. I try to send holiday cards out on time, but for some reason Father's Day always sneaks up on me. Sorry Benj, Dad, Dean and Grandpa Walt. Next year I'll be more on the ball. I would have forgotten all about this important day this year as well, except my dad came to visit and reminded me the day of that it was Father's Day.

After our Father's Day Feast (steak on the BBQ) we met the Andersons and Baileys at Half Moon Bay for Dutch Oven cobbler, kite-flying (Ella's first time, she loved it) and ice cream.

I love having family in town because they are so eager to babysit Ella. Saturday Benj and I went to the Oakland temple, went sailing in Mountainview and went to the View with the Baileys and Andersons for appetizers and cocktails (Shirley Temples and Virgin Daiquiris if you are
Mormon:)). Thanks Dad for watching Ella.

Pacifica

Today our weekly "mommy-group" went to the Pacifica Pier beach. It was a great way to cool off and spend the afternoon with friends. Ella loves watching the waves, but is still a bit hesitant to get in the water. I love living here.

The Me(a)gans

ring, ring, ring
Me: Hello?
other: Hi, is Meagan there?
Me: Which one?
other: It doesn't matter.
Me: This is.
other: Hi, this is Jo from your BYU Freshman ward... do you want to go out this weekend.
Me: Thanks for the invite but I already have plans this weekend.
other: Oh, ok, then can I talk with the other Meagan.

This conversation actually took place (more than once), BYU Helaman Halls, 1999-2000. Megan and I were roommates and had a blast being
"the Me(a)gans." Now that we are all grown up, we hope Ella and Abby will be BYU roommates someday. We went to lunch with the Hoybjergs today; Congrats for finishing dental school.

Ella Update

Ella is becoming a great eater. She loves pears, applesauce, avocados, bananas, graham crackers and her sippy-cup. Feeding her is messy and really fun.

Last night we went to a sneak-preview of Surf's Up... funny. We liked the documentary style for a cartoon, and also thought it was creative how they made each penguin so individual. This was Ella's second movie theater experience, the first was Shrek 3. She loves movies and either watches attentively or goes to sleep (probably because she doesn't watch TV at home).

Yesterday I went to Gymboree's corporate office to share a thank-you presentation for their clothing donations to Project Reach Out. We had some technical difficulties, but all in all, it was pretty fun. My epiphany for the day, however, was that corporate life is not all it is cracked up to be, and I was really anxious to get back home to Ella (I think I suffer from separation anxiety more than she does).

Sometimes I like to dress like Ella (thus the tie-dye and jeans outfits). The shirt I am wearing was actually my mom's and is older than I am! She bought it in Africa and it is one of my favorite shirts.

Porter Anderson is a great big brother and always looks out for Ella. Thanks Porter.

Finally, we went to the Exploratorium with our Mothers Group this week. I can't wait until Ella is 10 and really into that kind of stuff.
