California Academy of Science

Landon and Liddy treated us on a date to the new California Academy of Science - and yes, we were impressed.
From the living roof, down to the aquarium, this place is worth the 5 years it took to build. The albino alligator, indoor rain forest and kid friendly activities (this is a touch sensitive bug-board, as you try to step on or grab a bug, they move) were all engaging. Ella, Anne and Landon were intrigued with the fish , and the diver who took and answered questions from within the tank.
Little Anne Catherine was just as enthralled as the "big" kids
.

After lunch (don't worry, we were conscious to put the 'compost' trash in the correct bin, not the 'recycle' or 'landfill' containers), we took a pit stop at the Golden Gate Park Botanical Gardens. Ok, I don't like to pay for parking... so we parked on the street a good distance from the Academy. On our hike back to the car we passed the botanical gardens. Anne ate while Ella chased the birds and threw rocks in the pond.
Overall, a great Friday morning.

I was just reading about the Academy of Science in the newspaper. It looks like such a great place... fun and educational. It looks like a place you could stay busy at for a while. You sure have some great places to visit.

I had to laugh at the "compost" bin as well on our visit there! The Bay Area has such varied and enriching places for children. We can't wait to go back again!
